Abstract:
【Objective】 The objective of this study is to provide a reference for policymakers, industry practitioners and researchers to jointly promote the high-quality development of fresh corn industry in Xinjiang.
【Methods】 This paper discussed the planting scale, regional characteristics, variety structure, processing chain and existing problems of fresh maize industry in Xinjiang, and put forward relevant countermeasures such as germplasm innovation, industrial chain integration and brand upgrading.
【Results】 In the plains along the Tianshan Mountains in Northern Xinjiang, including Yili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture and Tacheng Prefecture, spring-sown corn dominates. In Southern Xinjiang, early-maturing corn is primarily cultivated after wheat harvest. The main varieties of fresh edible corn in Xinjiang are predominantly waxy corn, including white, yellow, black, and multicolored types based on kernel color, with white waxy corn varieties accounting for a relatively high proportion. The mechanical harvesting efficiency for fresh edible corn in Xinjiang is high, enabling fully mechanized, standardized, and refined management. The economic benefits of cultivating fresh edible corn are significant.
【Conclusion】 It is necessary to continue to invest in variety breeding and technological innovation, industrial integration and development, brand building and market expansion, and policy support and guarantee.
