Objective Yi-zhi-hao in Xinjiang (Artemisia rupestris L.) belongs to the genus Artemisia of Compositae, which has pharmacological activities such as enhancing immune regulation, anti-inflammation, antibacterial, anti-virus, anti-tumor and so on. In order to study the effect of Xinjiang Artemisia ethanol extract against H9N2 subtype avian influenza virus in vitro.
Methods Firstly, seven kinds of Xinjiang Artemisia ethanol extract (YZH-C1, YZH-C2, YZH-C3, YZH-C4, YZH-C5, YZH-C6, YZH-C7) were extracted by heating reflux, and then A549 cells were used as host cells. The effect of ethanol extract of Artemisia annua L. from different extraction processes on H9N2 subtype avian influenza virus was discussed from three aspects: prevention, direct killing and therapeutic effect on H9N2 subtype avian influenza virus.
Results The maximum non-toxic concentrations of seven kinds of Artemisia ethanol extract on A549 cells were 31.25, 5.00, 15.00, 8.00, 5.00, 15.00 and 0.038 mg/mL, respectively. The best action mode of Xinjiang Artemisia ethanol extract was the combination of Ⅱ (drug direct action) and Ⅲ (therapeutic action), which had direct blocking effect and therapeutic effect on H9N2 subtype avian influenza virus.
Conclusion Xinjiang Artemisia ethanol extract has anti-H9N2 subtype avian influenza virus activity, is expected to develop into anti-influenza virus drugs, and its antiviral mechanism should be further analyzed.
